Hon. Susan Cacace is a distinguished Italian American jurist, dedicated public servant, and esteemed friend of CLAW.
A lifelong resident of Westchester County, Judge Cacace earned her Bachelor of Arts in English from Pace University in 1986 and her Juris Doctor from the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University in 1989. She began her legal career as an Assistant District Attorney in the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office before entering private practice as a partner at Dibbini & Cacace, where she continued to advocate for justice and serve her community with distinction.
In 2005, Judge Cacace was elected to the Westchester County Court, where she served honorably for nearly two decades. Throughout her tenure, she earned a reputation for fairness, integrity, and compassion. A longtime member and supporter of CLAW, Judge Cacace was the first student recipient of the Hon. James R. Caruso Scholarship Award and was later honored as a recipient of the Richard J. Daronco Distinguished Service Award. In 2023, Judge Cacace announced her candidacy for Westchester County District Attorney, furthering her lifelong commitment to justice and public service.
When asked the question, “What does Italian American Heritage mean to you?”, Judge Cacace said, “I am the granddaughter of immigrants from the Abruzzo region of central Italy. When they came to America at the turn of the century, my grandfather earned a living as a grocery store proprietor to provide for his family. This allowed him to offer a robust education for his son, who would become one of the most respected jurists in the City of Yonkers. His granddaughter would go on to become the top prosecutor in Westchester County. In just two generations, the Cacaces transformed their humble immigrant origins into a devoted family of public servants. This is what Italian American heritage means to me: drawing on the hard-working ethos of our forebears to give back to the community that allowed us to thrive.”
Judge Cacace’s exemplary career and devotion to the law reflects the strength, pride, and values of her Italian American heritage. We are honored to share her story. To learn more about District Attorney Susan Cacace, visit: https://www.westchesterda.net/about-susan-cacace
